James J, "Jim" Neely "Mr Soccer" A native of Colerain, Ireland who came to the United States in 1926 to attend Temple University. Jim was at McCaskey High School for 39 years as a teacher and a coach. At McCaskey he coached wrestling. boxing, soccer, and gymnastics. Aside from teaching and coaching Neely has been active as a official in football, soccer, swimming and track, and was honored by the PIAA for all his years service as he served on the board of controls and many years chairman of District Three steering committee. He also was a long time athletic director at McCaskey. He also served on the National soccer association and he loved soccer so much that when he attended Temple University he started soccer at Temple. Also while attending Temple he ran in the Penn Relays in 1927, 1928, and 1929.
