Hempfield High School. Tom was a second baseman who played in the Major Leagues from 1979 to 1991 with the Cardinals, Twins, Phillies, Mets and the Giants. Tom had a lifetime batting average of .271 with 1,450 hits and 574 runs batted in. In 1985 he was chosen for the All-Star GAME, AND IN 1985 HE HAD CAREER HIGH INCLUDING AN AMAZING 110 RUNS BATTED IN WITH ONLY 8 HOME RUNS. Herr REMAINS THE LAST national league PLAYER TO DRIVE IN 100 RUNS OR MORE IN A SEASON WHILE HITTING FEWER THAN 10 HOME RUNS. Tom PLAYED WITH THE St Louis cardinals IN THE 1982, 1985, AND 1987 world series AND WON A world series championship IN 1982. In 2020 Tom was inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame. He also managed the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League to a championship.
