Maddie Knier was one of the finest three-sport athletes to ever compete in the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
The Manheim Central graduate was all-state in basketball and volleyball and a two-time javelin medalist at the PIAA Track & Field Championships earning her the honor of LNP | Lancaster Online Female Senior Athlete of the Year.
Knier earned 14 varsity letters for the Barons, including two in cheerleading during which she played the role of the Baron mascot.
In basketball, she was a three-time All-State selection. She scored 2,054 career points, which is eighth-most in league history. As a senior, she led Central to a 23-6 record and the L-L League Section 2 title. The Barons advanced to L-L semifinals and the District Three Class AAAAA quarterfinals. Knier averaged 22.5 points and shot 85% from the foul line.
In volleyball, she was a two-time All-State selection. As a middle hitter, she ranks third all-time at Central with 594 career kills. Her single-game high was 27.
In track and field, she starred in field events. She owns the school record in the high jump (5-6) and long jump (18-2.5). She has triple-jumped 37-0.25 and threw the javelin 131-7.
Her versatility led her to attend the University of Pennsylvania to compete in the heptathlon for the track & field program.
She plans to study sports psychology at the Ivy League school. She also was awarded the Brackbill Female Scholar-Athlete Award by the L-L League.
