Lancaster Catholic Boys Soccer Team Wants It All

As a junior, Carson Spangler (top photo) was named to the all-state soccer team, the first striker ever from Lancaster Catholic to be so honored.

At the other end of the field, goalkeeper Logan Kratz (bottom right) is expected to soon hold the school record for the most career shutouts.

The honors are great, the two seniors on a star-studded Lancaster Catholic team agree. But they want something else.

“Realistically, our goal is to win our section and even a state championship,” Coach Bryan Fossi (bottom left) says. “I believe we have the squad to do it – we have the depth, we have the leadership. Every year, that’s our goal.”

The Crusaders, who made the state final in 2022, won the District 3 championship last season before falling in the first round of the state playoffs.

Now, Spangler, Kratz and fellow seniors Luca Dorazio and Will O’Malley are gunning for bigger things.

O’Malley told LNP, “Even though we have accomplished a lot, there’s still a lot left to win. It’s our last year. We’ve got to make it count. This is probably the best chance we have.”

Fossi, who’s in his eighth year as coach, guided the team on its state title run three years ago and, over the last few years, has watched the players continue to grow.

He sees some tough competition this season, and while “we have a target on our backs this season – we can’t take anybody lightly.” He likes his team’s chances in 2025.

LNP | LancasterOnline hosted  Media Day at its downtown Lancaster office to connect local media with Lancaster-Lebanon League players and coaches.
