In his senior year, Ethan Transue competes as a three-year starter at shortstop. His Penn Manor team returns two starters from a year ago, and Ethan sees the younger players contributing by stepping up and getting the Comets off to a good start.
According to Ethan, Penn Manor’s off-season workouts are a key to this season -- practicing three days a week in the gym, including batting versus pitching machines that served up fastballs and curves.
This past summer Ethan played on the Complete Game Academy team out of Spooky Nook. This baseball travel team competed up and down the East Coast.
Penn Manor has a long tradition of good baseball. Ethan sees the “Big 3” in Section One -- Hempfield, Manheim Township and Ephrata -- as the recent top teams, however he knows Penn Manor can get “back to the top!”
Oliver Hanna has become the ace of the PM pitching staff. Ethan says Oliver’s key is pitching to contact. Other pitchers who will have bigger roles this year are Ben Patterson and Josh Beck.
Ethan will lead the batting lineup as lead-off or two-hole hitter.
Next year Ethan will attend Juniata College to study business and play baseball.
