Sariiah Sweeney, freshman McCaskey point guard and swing forward, plays basketball all year long with her AAU PA team. These games allow her to travel to games in Kentucky and Ohio. She says these games and competition keep her in great shape year-round.
Sariiah says her McCaskey team is young this year, however players have high goals. Winning a state championship is a long- range goal.
This season at McCaskey, Sariiah is looking forward to competing against Manheim Township, expected to be the pre-season favorite for the section championship. She also looks forward to playing against Penn Manor, where she has a good friend on the team.
Earlier in her athletic career, Sariiah competed in the Junior HS National Track Meet by running the 100m and 200m hurdles. She plans to continue competing in sprints and hurdles on the McCaskey track team.
After high school, Sariiah plans to go to college to study medicine and play basketball.
