When veteran Warwick coach Bob Locker looks at his squad for 2025, he sees a team featuring nearly a dozen new starters.
But he also sees a glass that’s half-full with a slew of returning starters and some solid senior leadership.
”We’re looking to build on our strengths,” the coach says. “Which is, we return four starting linemen from last year, so obviously we expect to be an improved offense, especially in terms of running the football.”
There are “some bodies to replace on defense, and there are some spots where there’s some competition, so we’ll have to see how that plays out,” Locker says.
But there are some familiar faces coming back.
“We return three wideouts with 10-plus catches, our quarterback (Thomas Myers) returns with a year under his belt, so offensively we think we’re ahead of where we were a year ago,” the coach says.
On defense, the Warriors do return two safeties, two outside linebackers, a noseguard and a defensive end, “so it’s not like the cupboard’s bare,” Locker says.
The Warriors were 5-6 last year overall with their 4-2 record in the section placing them third.
The returning starters include guard/defensive end Calvin Bent, receiver/safety Ty Musser, receiver/outside linebacker Rowen Greenway and receiver/defensive back Grant Lugar.
As a senior, lineman Bent says he’s “just looking forward to embracing all of the little things we have, and leading the guys to victory.”
Is there a game he’s anticipating the most? The tilt with traditional rival – and neighbor - Manheim Central on Oct. 24, Bent says.
